Dell: Customizing Optical Drive Help?
For you, probably not. a Single means that on a DVD the Side thats up Can hold around 4.7Gb of info. Now a Dual Dvd drive can read both the top and Bottom hence Dual! Which means if you have the right DVD(you would have to buy dual sided) you can use a DVD that can hold up to around 8.6Gb. A Dvd that's dual sided can hold 2x as much as a single. And for you to use Dual Sided DVDs you need a Dual sided drive. Now Dual sided will run Single as well As dual. In your case its not worth it. I myself would not pay that price its a rip off. I would stick with the Standard single drive. If you want to play Blu-Ray it would be an extra $120 which, i have a playstation so that's what id watch my blu-ray on. Be aware at the prices DELL is charging you for those though, I could find a Blueray Drive for $100 on a better aftermarket brand. So, alot of the features they try to get you to buy they are making a bunch of money. Just added some buying tips as i build my own but anyways thats the difference. Hope it helps!
