What were the reasons that Louis XIV created an absolute monarchy?

I am trying to write about the reasons that he chose to rule this way. I know that Mazarin had an influence on him when he was young and that was one of the reasons, and I also know that the Fronde caused him to fear the nobles so he tried to keep them from gaining any power.
