What happens when you heat and mix copper sulfate and iron?

we added distilled water to copper sulfate solid, and then we heated and stirred it until it boiled. After it boiled we added iron fillings to the copper sulfate water mix. Then we decanted the liquid, and some solid was left at the bottom. What was the solid? (was something new created?- if so what is it called?)
