Weird conversation. What did it mean?

chatting with a male frined, i'm female. anyways, he randomly brought up the comment "i lost my faith in man". I asked if he was talking about a woman inparticular and he said ma nitself. I joked and said i also lost my faith in God, so we are even. He knows my faith isnt christian. anyways, i asked why he was getting mopey, and he said he wasnt. This was after i had said i was drinking a gl of wine and he knew i was in AA about 3 yrs ago. Did he mean me? I only had a gl to calm down from nerves of midterms. When i said this to him, he replyed, "LOL". do u think he meant me, or was talking in general. He is so hard to read.
