Why does everyone keep saying Hemingway has short sentences?

The brevity in Hemingway's sentence structure is one of the most well known characteristics attributed to his writing style. He originally started writing in shorter sentences while he was a reporter for the Kansas City Star. Hemingway's short sentences are unique and very specific to his writing style; however that does not mean that he didn't construct longer sentences over the course of his career as a novelist. in summation "everyone" says Hemingway's sentences are short because for the most part they are.
