Why don't scientists worry about bigger threats to humanity and how we could deal with them?

Like a possible yellow stone eruption, for example. How about more scientific research is done into that and how big of a threat it is and how we could cope if it did erupt and adapt. Or maybe how we could stop it with some new super technology or something.
