I plan on reinstalling windows xp home edition and i need hlp?

Recently i got a virus on my comp and i decided to restart the whole thing... Now i know that i need to reinstall windows XP home edition and reformat my hard drive. Thing is i can NOT due to a tight budge tto back up all my files and this virus is everywhere. Wut im concerned is after i do the reinstall what am i left with? If all my drivers go away how do i reinstall the exact ones i had or save them on a few blank CDs i have. I've heard that maby sometimes that you cant serf the web right after wards? After the zillion updates are done i plan roughing it out and reinstalling all my programs. Any tips ... advice? ... help?
